A Special Blend

Musings of a young, artistic homeowner.

I thought about a PhD in Literature, French or Latin. Almost enrolled in Georgetown's MBA program. Toyed with the idea of studying graphic design. But instead I've been working on a home grown MBA and self-tutored digital illustration. I absolutely love my job in the coffee/service industry, and could hardly ask for a happier life, here fixing up my house, fiddling on my computer, smiling at my customers...Life is good. (Next stop: small business of my own?)

Back from vacation to find this:

The sewage pipe below the block of houses in which we live, backed up

and flooded all of the basements on our block.

We seem to have had it the worst, because we were the closest house to the problem.

And after being gone for a week, the foot of water we once had, dried up almost entirely on the high end of the basement, leaving this foul quarter inch to half inch of muck.

After 3 days of calling and calling and arguing with the city, our heros have arrived (they are actually down stairs, rescuing our basement at this moment...I'll let you know how it turns out).

And the best part is that I was forced to rush out and buy a pair of these fabulous looking galloshes. Now, muck or no muck, I'm a happy girl! :)

Anytime you can get a new pair of shoes out of the deal though, you know everything will be all right
