I thought about a PhD in Literature, French or Latin. Almost enrolled in Georgetown's MBA program. Toyed with the idea of studying graphic design. But instead I've been working on a home grown MBA and self-tutored digital illustration. I absolutely love my job in the coffee/service industry, and could hardly ask for a happier life, here fixing up my house, fiddling on my computer, smiling at my customers...Life is good. (Next stop: small business of my own?)

"Reading"

I just finished listening to Freakonomics on my iPod (via audible.com) in my car on the way home today. I loved this book. It was recommended to me a year or so ago, and I just finally had the opportunity to go through it. I LOVE numbers and data and charts. You should see me at work... I'm turning into a data freak there as well :)

I think I love data so much, because I am often guided by my emotional senses and I love to see what is really truly out there, completely separate from what I feel is out there. And if the data "truth" matches up with what I feel...even better :)

Tubing in Maryland

Yesterday, Mark and I did just about the most fun summer thing we have ever done in Maryland. We went tubing on the river with a bunch of friends. We were on the Gunpowder Falls River (which does not actually have any falls where we were) near Monkton. Unfortunately, I did not bring my camera so here are a couple of pictures from the web to give you a very faint idea of just how beautiful, fun, and refreshing it really was.

This first picture gives you an idea of the serene beauty.

Our group wasn't quite this big and we had the old fashioned black rubber tubes--we were much cooler than this group. Also, we walked down a beautiful rock path in a forest and then climbed down a steep river bank to get into the water (instead of this weird, open, industrial looking space.)

New York, MOMA

This last weekend, Mark and I drove up to New York with Mark's parents.
Would you believe that after 5 years of living in Baltimore, this is the first time I've made it up to New York? What a shame. I love, love, love it.

We drove up and back in a day to visit the MOMA (Museum of Modern Art). I think I might get a memebership...it's amazing!

We did under-estimate the drive and ended up back home well after 1 am on a Sunday night. Poor Ed had to leave for the airport at 5:30am.

Nevertheless, it was worth every minute. It was a wonderful trip and it was great to visit with Bonnie and Ed.

Bourne Ultimatum

On Saturday Mark and I saw The Bourne Ultimatum.

It was fun, as expected. There were some dizzying, head-ache causing fight scenes though. Be ware. (To be fair, I was pretty sick with a head cold when I went). Otherwise, I recommend the film.

Lake Shasta

Last week Mark and I went to Lake Shasta and rented a house boat with 9 of our friends from college.
It was unbelievably relaxing and fun. I am completely converted to lake vacations. I can't wait to go laking again. Here are some pics. I'll add more later.
