Musings of a young, artistic homeowner.

I thought about a PhD in Literature, French or Latin. Almost enrolled in Georgetown's MBA program. Toyed with the idea of studying graphic design. But instead I've been working on a home grown MBA and self-tutored digital illustration. I absolutely love my job in the coffee/service industry, and could hardly ask for a happier life, here fixing up my house, fiddling on my computer, smiling at my customers...Life is good. (Next stop: small business of my own?)

The Fountain

Mark and I watched The Fountain in the theater yesterday.
For some reason, after years of hardly ever going to the movie theaters, we've started going every weekend and sometimes more, in the last month or two.

I would say The Fountain was less of a movie than an experience--a trip through someone else's psychological or philisophical musings. I also thought it was absolutely wonderful, despite the raving (mad) reviews of the folks that were sitting around us in the theater.
The film made me feel immensely sad and beautiful all at once. Usually, I want nothing more than to be silent after something like that, but this film also provoked a rich and lively conversation for Mark and I, despite the tears leaking down my face.
I recommend the film to anyone who wants to experience a sort of intense exposure to someone else's difficult thoughts. I do not recommend the film to those who prefer a manageable, linear plot. Running a mere hour and a half, the film is sure to give you your money's worth with the unmistakable sensation that you've in fact been entertained (or detained) for several hours.

I Like to Decorate

This week, I got to be in charge of decorating the store at work.
