A Special Blend

Location: Baltimore, Maryland, United States

I thought about a PhD in Literature, French or Latin. Almost enrolled in Georgetown's MBA program. Toyed with the idea of studying graphic design. But instead I've been working on a home grown MBA and self-tutored digital illustration. I absolutely love my job in the coffee/service industry, and could hardly ask for a happier life, here fixing up my house, fiddling on my computer, smiling at my customers...Life is good. (Next stop: small business of my own?)

My New Ballroom Dancing Shoes

The soles are made of suede so they make spinning on a polished wood floor very easy. Also, the soles are extremely flexible and comfortable so you can dance for hours on end. Posted by Hello

Guess who's dancing with me now? (Mark!--and he likes it. We even practice at home.) Posted by Hello

Bryan's Other Blog: Coera

I've spent most of the morning exploring Bryan's blog: Coera.
It is incredibly facinating to read. It's like Christian mythology mixed with Buddhist mythology and Roman/Greek mythology, then laced with science fiction and drama, etc.

Bryan--your mind is a vast and impressive expanse. I don't know how to express the enjoyment of wandering through your creations without sounding a bit cheesy.

Reminiscing my trip to Europe in 2002

The following are some thoughts and pictures from my trip a few years ago:

Flying Across the Atlantic (nearing the end of a red-eye)...

My own secret blue--
but I'll share it with you, dear.
My blue streaks thin across the sky
just skimming the cloud blanket,
low-lying beneath the stars
(not quite his turn yet, he knows).
Slowly, gently, patiently
my blue grows longer,
grows lighter,
grows higher,
giving way to tell-tale pinks and orange.
And as the stars give way
my blue lingers, secretly,
for a moment,
then creeps on
letting in the new day.

My travel buddy, Wendy
(Malaga, Spain-bus station)

My thoughts:

Discomfort, be my mantra.
I seek thee ‘ere thou be-
In train, on foot, by plane;
I hunger, ache, and sweat.
Run me thin with toil and burden,
And lead me not to resting grounds.

(jotted down on an overnight
train ride to Paris when
hard seats afforded little sleep)

Malaga, Spain 2002

Roughly, I love thee.
Too patient, I’m bored.
I covet the green grass
But your hues-all brown.
And you made me love,
You make me covet
With your unexpected
Resistance coyly slighting
Me again.

Frusterated with Posting Pictures

I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong, but I used to be able to post pictures via Hello, and then edit them to be in the chronological order of my choosing. But now, once I post a picture, if I go to edit the post, the picture image disappears. Why? Does anyone know?

As a result, my postings are essentially backwards. Therefore, I suggest you scroll down to the beginning of the salsa posts and work your way up.

This is not a terribly attractive picture of my friend Kristen, but I promised I would blog it nonetheless. Kristen has taken on the role of ardently encouraging us all to keep practicing our Salsa every week. Posted by Hello

Salsa Dancing

Last night I went to Gardel's with a few of my friends, where we took Salsa lessons for an hour and then danced the night away. It was really fun!
